Re: ADD

Sharon,
Sounds like you may be right about your son. He sounds
Hyperactive with ADD (ADHD). He may also have some other
problems. Many ADHD individuals have problems with reading
and writing. My son's school issued him a portable computer
to do his typing on. His grades went up significantly (once
he learned to type). Medication can not solve all problems for
kids with ADHD, but they do help a lot.
First thing you need to do is setup a school evaluation for
your son. Contact the school counselor to do this. The evaluation
process takes several weeks.
You might want to checkout the National Attention Deficit Disorder
Association (ADDA) Website at:
http://www.azstarnet.com/~sled/ADDA_map.html
And read some good books on the matter. I personnaly have
a regular library on the subject.
Finally talk to your son's doctor to get a recommendation on
a child psychiatrist who is knowledgable in ADD and ADHD.
