Here is what I read about the BSA commissioned Louis Harris and Associates
poll being discussed. Nationwide, in-depth study; 3 separate surveys of a
representative national cross-section of 3 groups: (1) Adult males --
1,109 men age 18 and older; (2) Adult male leaders -- 502 men listed in
Who's Who in America; and (3) Male students -- 2,508 students in grades 4
thru 12. Some of the findings of the survey of the 1,611 adult men:
Category -- Member of Scouting as a Youth
70% of Who's Who leaders
51% of the national cross section
Category -- High School Graduates
98% of men who had been Scouts for 5 plus years
83% of Non-Scouts
Category -- College Graduates
40% of men who had been Scouts for 5 plus years
16% of Non-Scouts
Category -- Annual Household Income over $50K
33% of adult men who had been Scouts for 5 plus years
17% of Non-Scouts
I will leave the interpretation to more astute folks. Annual Household
Income obviously would include the spouse. Maybe the men who were tenured
Scouts married women with a good income.
