Re: Ad Altare Dei

In a message dated 96-02-27 14:14:51 EST, Kevin Woods writes about his hassle
getting AAD info:

>I HAVE 12 SCOUTS AND A LEADER READY TO DO THIS. What does National or
>the Catholic Council expect me to do WAIT TILL APRIL?

It sure seems that way to me. Certainly reminds me of when I did it. Work was
done in October and had to sit and wait till January for it to be read and
reviewed. Sigh.......

My son didn't want to do his Parvuli Dei until now, a a week after the
"season" seems to be over here (NCAC, diocese of Arlington). He has the book,
but noone seems to know where to go or what to do now that the 'push' is over
to get all the awards for the Scout Mass. Then again, what motivated him was
that my wife in the process of finishing her scrutinies to convert to
Catholicism; they go off and study together.

Several thoughts:
1. Scout materials are reproducible. Get a hold of a clean copy and start
duplicating. If someone starts to squawk then, ask them, TELL them to get the
materials in your hands.

2. When I did mine, I had to put it all together in a notebook format. When
you make those copies, punch holes and put them all in a looseleaf binder.

3. Get them started. Keep the enthusiasm and use it to get the boys learning
more about their faith. The desire to grow in their faith is far more
important than how many of the books you bought from Council.

4. Have your priest call the dicosean offices as well. Both of you working on
it is going to get attention faster.

Best of luck Kevin. Meantime, I will work on getting my son to finish his
journal and turn it in. Return receipt requested ;)
