Happy B-P Birthday & Introduction

HAPPY THINKING DAY!!!

Today, as we celebrate Lord & Lady Baden-Powell's birthdays, I thought it
would be an opportune time to introduce myself.

I've been skulking around the SCOUT-L list for a while and have
thoroughly enjoyed many of the postings. I only hope that I will be able to
contribute to the positive helpful atmosphere that is so prevalent here.

I'm in my sixth year as a leader with the Port Hardy Scouting Group (Port
Hardy, British Columbia, Canada). I spent two years as a Beaver Leader
("Rusty"), then moved up to Cubs ("Baloo") for three years. Now I have moved
up to our Scouts (along with my eldest son) and am enjoying the new challenges
that this section presents.

Everyone in my family, except my youngest son, is involved in the
Scouting/Guiding movement. My eldest son is in Scouts and has just earned his
Pioneer Award/Chevron. My daughter is in Brownies with my wife as "Brown Owl".
My 2nd son started Beavers this fall.

As well as my responsibilities in our Ship's Company (Troop) - we are Sea
Scouts - and our Group Committee, I am also District Vice-President and
Assistant District Commissioner - Training. [ It really is only an hour and a
half a week when you are travelling at warp speed! ;-)

When I had some free time I enjoyed the beautiful creation that one finds
on the north end of Vancouver Island - canoeing, sailing, fishing & camping
(Hey! I still get to do all those things as a Scout Leader - only with 18
youths in tow! 8-|

Have a great Thinking Day, and remember Him who got us into all this...
oh, and also remember B-P!

YiS,
