Re: Places to go; things to do in Co. Sprngs., Co.
If you have a bus, try to get out to see the Garden of the Gods. It's right
in Co. Springs and is a neat place for boys to run around. They used to let
you climb on the rocks there, but the big rocks are now off limits.
Pike's Peak is nearby and worth a trip.
Royal Gorge is a little south of the city. You might consider this if you
have the time. I'd plan for the better part of a day to get there, see
everything and get back.
All provide a place for boys to get their yayas out.
As far as places to stay, if you're looking for motels, there are plenty.
Another option is the Air Force Academy which I believe still puts up
Scouts. If not, they might like to tour the place in the least.
There are lot of great places to eat there -- most of which I wouldn't want
to go to with a Scout troop. There is an interesting steak and western food
place downtown. I can't remember the name, but I think it's in an old
warehouse or train depot. It's probably called the Great Cattle Company or
some other ridiculous name like that. Go into AOL's travel forum and ask
people from the area to provide tips is my recommendation. You can get into
the service from the Internet.
Have fun!
