My son has earned two and is working on the third. Our scout shop has the
manuals (usually one for the student and one for the couselor). They vary on
age and religion. The hardest part is finding out which one you need.
Methodists have: God and Me, God and Family, God and Church, God and Life
they start at 8yrs old and advance. Some of the churches share the same
books but have seperate medals. My son has always worked with a minister to
complete each of the programs and has worked with 3 seperate ministers. You
don't need to go through the council or district (HERE) to work on the
awards, just get the books find a counselor. Different religions and councils
might do it different. The manuals then have all the information (students
manual is a workbook) and the order blank used to order the pins and medal.
An organization P.R.A.Y in St. Louis is the coordinator for the programs my
son has done. They work with all kinds of children programs, 4H, Girls
scouts .... The purple knot that the scout wears is only sold through the
BSA. There is a device that worn in the purple knot that shows whether it
was earned as a boy scout or cub scout.

A not so short answer for a short question.

If you want the address for PRAY e-mail back and I will find it.
