Girl Scout Cookies

Dear Scouters,

I received a subscription to a recipe magazine as a Valentine gift from
my mother. (Yes, at 41 I still receive Valentines from Mom). She had
no idea what a memorable gift it would become until we discovered on
page 65 the recipe that started the "World's Largest Bake Sale". This
recipe was of course for Girl Scout Cookies. Along with the recipe was
a short history of Girl Scout Cookies. I knew she remembered the
many miles I walked door to door selling Girl Scout Cookies as a child
when I received a package yesterday containing a trefoil cookie cutter.
My Girl Scouts memories are some of the very best from my childhood
and I can only hope that Boy Scouts will mean as much to my son. I
think he and I will make some memories this weekend baking cookies.

Due to copyright restrictions I cannot post the recipe but it can be
located in "Taste of Home" 1996 Feb-Mar;4(1):65. "Taste of Home" is
published by Reiman Publications, 5400 S. 60th St., Greendale WI 53129,
(414)423-0100. Subscriptions are $16.98 but most publishers will sell
individual issues when they are available. Most publishers will also
allow reproduction after copyright and royalty fees have been paid.
For those who love to cook this magazine is a delight. I enjoy my
subscription immensely.
