Peter is right to be skeptical about the "Blue Star" report.
This memo has been circulating for 10 years that I know about.
It has been distributed through schools, day care centers,
pediatricians offices and hundreds of other outlets who
innocently believe they are doing the right thing.
But it is a hoax. The notice is usually signed by an official
sounding agency that does not exist. Sometimes it even cites
the names of police departments in various cities. But newspapers
all over the country, including my own, have tried to validate
the report and have not been successful.
The real world is a dangerous place for children. There's no
need to make up fake dangers. Let's save our time and energy
for threats that really exist.
