We go through this kind of discussion every once in a while about some of
our freenet initiatives....
If written with the highest level of flash (animation, java, javascript,
frames, marquees, sounds, etc.), as essential parts of the presentation, it
removes itself from the reach of an unknown number of people using older
browsers or text systems. (How many lynx users are out there? One million?
Two? Almost all the freenet users in Western Canada?) More importantly, how
many of the low-end users are the ones that the organization most wants to
reach?
Our freenet pages, for example, are HTML-2, text-based, because we want the
most information out to the most people.
An organization like BSA has to find a balance between the two.
