Well, I am associated with one. Troop 1, Flushing, NY celebrates its 86th
anniversary this month. (Not sure it has happened YET.) We have been
around since February, 1910. We don't claim to be the oldest troop in
country (or even NYC) because the records back then were never clear. We
do claim to be ONE of the oldest troops in the country.

As of 1985 (the 75th Anniversary of BSA) national was only acknowledging
about 17 troops which had been continuously chartered since 1910, according
to their reply to our request for that information. I don't have the 1995
response handy, but the list had shrunk slightly but, surprisingly,
included at least one troop which had not been on the list ten years
earlier, hmmm.

As long as I have your attention, this give me the opportunity to post
something I thought about at our annual Father & Son Dinner and Court of
Honor last night where we recognized our 195th, 196th and 197th Eagles.
(Yes, I am engaging in some self-congratulation.)

We are always trying to track down our alumni. Sooo, if any of you out
there are alumni of Troop 1, Flushing or KNOW any alumni of Troop 1,
Flushing, we would love to hear from you. We would add you to the mailing
list for our Old Timers' Association, invite you to our annual Old Timers'
Dinner and otherwise keep in touch. We KNOW you are out there, so let us
know where you are.

I look forward to hearing from all of our alumni who are net connected.
