Never was true. The "veteran status" was to Troop 304, NOT to Troop 4.
The purpose of the veteran's strip, which are not only available for 25 and
50 years, but for additional years beyond 50 (60, 70, 75, 80, 85), is to
honor the UNIT on continuous chartering. The strips are not always available
from your Council office, but they are in the BSA's Supply Division system.
When you take off the "3" and the "0", you no longer become Troop 304 but rather
Troop 4. I'm glad that it didn't catch on...
