Hello Everyone!
I have recently been hired on as the new program director at Camp Baker,
located on the Oregon Coast. I am looking for any creative activities
that could be offered to keep the camp interesting for returning scouts.
One person suggessted that we have a group sign up to build a log cabin
(one that could easily be taken down again) and sleep in it overnight
towards the end of the week. I'm not really sure if something quite that
big is feasible, but it is interesting. Any suggestions?
Of course, I wouldn't dream of asking for ideas without sharing one of
our own! Darby Crouch, who has been a super camp staffer for several
years now, has made it his yearly project to take several canoes, lash
them together with a make-shift mast and home made sails, and take the boy
scout built sail boat across the lake and camp overnight, returning again
in the morning. We are lucky enough for our camp to be on a fairly large
lake, so a project like this works well. But still, I need something new
to keep the camp interesting for those returning scouts. Any suggestions
would be greatly appreciated!!!
