Either the "official" Supply Division nameplates may be worn, or one
made from a commerical source may be used. The BSA has been using several
commerical firms for the nameplates in which it's National Exploring Instructors
wear during courses over the years, and lots of local Councils use local firms
for their nameplates.
Note that the nameplate DOES NOT HAVE TO HAVE THE BSA emblem to make it
"official".

The BSA owns copyright of all of it's written material, including that
material which
is published within the pages of it's corporate magazines. Scouters have
"traditionally" been given permission to copy and distribute BSA material in
the
normal "work flow" of their roles or jobs. Others still have to get
permission from
the BSA to use their indicia, to republish articles or to copy photos or
logos used
by the BSA or one of their programs or program areas.
Just because it's an OLD publication (by the publication or copyright
date...even the REALLY OLD STUFF) doesn't mean that you have "carte blance"
to use it all any way you
like. A proper reference to the BSA as in (c) BSA will keep the legals at
bay with you.
The BSA realizes that even with the influx of new Web pages and Internet
materials that
there's very little they can do to keep us Scouters from using the Universal
emblem or the old or present fullcolor emblem with the pages...all that we
should be doing, like
with anyone's material, is to give credit to whomever's material we are using.
