An Interview Story

I was given the task by my boss to hire a glassware person for our
lab. Now, this is something that I have done over the years and
we hire undergraduates. I posted the job and yesterday a young man
came for the interview. One of my first questions was "What sort of
past job experience do you have?" He said: "Well, last summer I was a
ranger at Philmont." I did that unthinkable: I through up my arms and
exclaimed to the lab "We have a keeper!!" Now, I know this was
unprofessional, at best, but I also know that that statement told me
lots about the candidate. (He is also an Eagle)
I regrouped and continued to interview him
appropriately. He got the job - he had all the right answers to the
rest of my questions.
I tell this story for all the young Scouts on Scouts-L. Go for the
Eagle - Being an Eagle means something! And for you older Scouters:
I'm crazy - but, so what!!
Merry Christmas - May all your dreams come true!
Yours in Scouting
