First, thanks for all the thoughtful answers to my posting asking for help
on this one.
This posting by the Naults really hits home on this issue. Since I am
fairly new to this troop, (8 mos. since I transferred in) I was not involved
with this boy until after he had made Life. I don't know how he made it to
Star and Life with the behavior I saw.
I don't feel that Eagle should require a different kind of Scout spirit than
any other rank, The other requirements differentiate it from the lesser
ranks. Scout spirit is Scout spirit.
I just got back from our troop meeting and he is definitely on the road to
improvement. I think that when he does make Eagle in a few more months, he
will always remember it as something he earned.
