Yes Pete, all are important. But, the destinction that needs to enter
in here is the degree of application. It is not a black or white
situation where the method application is all the way on or all the
way off. The methods are like a tool box or a bag of golf clubs where
you use the tool appropriate to the task. I will bet that there is
virtually no scouting organization where all the methods are applied
100% of the time without fault (except maybe in Vatican City). Any
teacher or leader will tell you that you use the method appropriate to
the occasion, to your objective. So, yes, in a well-run, boy run
troop, all may be present but to what degree? What does a SM do when
the boys do not agree to the degree of use of the method? Does he
guide and try to correct their attitude? What if they still disagree?
I doubt if anyone can give a definitive answer as to the degree of
application of any of the methods.
