Not a stupid question at all. This type of program which is operated on
many of the larger scout reservations in the country involves scouts and
leaders in small groups (ideally 12) backpacking each day to another
program. In our version, a crew might hike out to Hanks Haven one day and
do mountain biking, then hike to King Ranch the next day for horseback
riding, and go to another camp the next day for another program. Depending
on the itenerary selected, the crew might hike 25-50 miles during the week
and take in 5-6 programs. There are at least two of this type of program on
BSA reservations in Virginia. High Knoll is one on the Blue Ridge Scout
Reservation and Lenhoksin is the other at Goshen Scout Reservation near
Lexington.
