Re: Senior Citizens/Fund raisers

I'm glad to see some G.S's out here. It seems like the list is dominated by
B.S.'s & C.S.'s. Actually, most of the ideas (except when there is a
discussion about something specific like the B.S. knots) pertain to both Boy
and Girl Scouts.

As for your questions, candy is a good seller but, you do have lot's of
competition. How about a raffle? Perhaps local merchants can donate items
that can be raffled off. Or, maybe you can make them, if they are good enough
to be a worthy prize.

Car washes are good money makers, usually the needed supplies can be donated.
How about a carnival? Maybe you can do something in conjunction with the PTO
at your local school and work out a deal for splitting the proceeds.

With the holidays coming up, maybe your troop can make something like
wreaths, wooden candy canes, or wooden Star of David's (depending on the
market) to sell.

I don't know what the Girl Scout office has for helpful ideas but, the Boy
Scout office should have a number of books that will give you ideas for
skits. You might also try the library.

Please keep us posted on what you chose and how it turns out.

BTW, I'm originally from Chicago. Send me a personal e-mail (RBern@AOL.com)
if you are looking for sightseeing ideas.
