In a message dated 95-11-27 08:59:53 EST, you write:

them.....
I totally agree with your approach to teaching this girl responsibility. I
also think that your husband was, in his opinion, doing the best thing for
the girl.
Ok, I am waffling but, it is a tricky situation dealing with us men who are
trying to deal with women (huh?)
I'm not going to address how to deal with your husband but I do have a
suggestion for dealing with this girl. It sounds like she needs to be taught
how to remind herself of "to do's" and her parents should help out. Discuss
your approach with them and solicit their support. The first time you
implement this technique, the parents can help the girl write a reminder to
herself. Perhaps a Post-It note in a prominent place or a note on the family
calendar.
It wouldn't even be out of line, THE FIRST TIME ONLY, for the parents to
remind the girl that she needs to call -- and I do stress that the girl needs
to call, not the parents. After the first time, she needs to go solo.
Hope this helps. Let us know.
