Re: What to do with an former SPL

You might want to suggest to your PLC for a policy on leadership
positions, to limit terms to six consecutive months.

A six month limit gives the leadership a little stability,
while still allowing for some rotation into the positions.
Since all scouts need leadership time for advancement at
the higher ranks, it also helps distribute the positions.

It may be awark at first for the current SPL to step down
and become a patroll leader, and 'report' to a new SPL,
but overall, I have seen it really help develope better
team work between the junior leaders.

"Next time I am SPL, I will NOT do that" or if you give
the SPL a hard time now, you better think about what happens
when you are SPL etc.

Of course YOUR MILAGE will vary, and no two troops seem to
work the same. One reason we have "GUIDELINES" :)

scouter don,
- growing old and feeble, and I can OWL no more, but I still give a HOOT!
