Hi, All -
After a bit of thinking and considering, I've combined the WWW pages
I had put together for a Canadian Scout Group, a BSA Troop, and some
information on Scouting in the Czech Republic, and added a few more
pages with a different kind of concept. If you would like to take a
look at what I have so far, please feel free to drop by:
http://home.netscape.com/home/internet-search.html
Now, the header on this post says that you can participate in this
project. Actually, I am more in the line of hoping your youth
members, Beavers, Bevers, Joeys, Cubs, Sparks, Brownies, Scouts,
Guides, Explorers, Venturers, Rangers, Rovers, and so forth would
like to lend a hand (with only the teensiest bit of assistance from
we "more experienced" (my term for what the youngsters call "old")
personages.
First, have a look at the sponge battle game page that the Cubs of
the 1st The Hague Scout Group took part in a few years ago. I
reconstructed this one based very tightly along the stories the Cubs
wrote for our newsletter after the weekend was over. I added a few
photos of the Cubs who were taking part, so that everyone could see
what the game was like. (4 pictures = 4000 words, right?)
I would like to do this with your favourite games and your successful
adventuring activities of all sorts. If your Scouts had a good time,
ask them to write about it. Add some photos (I have a colour scanner,
so I can get them put together in small enough files not to kill your
browser). Please rememeber to get everyone's permission for using
pictures of them, though. Otherwise I won't be able to use the
photos...
I'll be happy to put in any drawings your Scouts might make of the
activities, as well.
Hopefully, if enough of us like the idea and participate in this, we
can work collaboratively to produce a page set that will be both very
useful and highly entertaining for all ages. After all, nobody ever
said we had to learn about new games only through the dry reading of
a rules book, eh?
Norman
