Hi fellow scouters,
I'm in the process of finishing up my woodbadge ticket, and the last requirement
has to deal with writing a little pamphlet on cultures that American scouts are
going to find when they travel abroad, for the units in my council. But to do
this, I sure could use a little help from the world brotherhood of scouting out
here on the list.
If you are interested in helping with this little project of mine, what I could
use might follow this format:
Country:
short data on country: Government type, head of government, population of
country, capital of country, predominant faith in the population, name of
scouting program, approx size of scouting movement (if known), ect...
Do's and Don'ts:
This section should be the body of the report. In it, please include things
that the people of your country admire about Americans when we visit your
country, as well as the things that irritate you about the typical American's
behavior when we visit your country. ect...
American scouts, while most want to behave in a positive manner, are typically
ignorant of what the customs of different nations are, and so they make
mistakes. Hopefully a little pamphlet like this would help these scouts to
better understand other cultures.
Any assistance that I receive will be greatly appreciated.
Please send ALL responses to Andrew_McElhannon@baylor.edu
When I am finished I'll put out a note informing anyone who would like
a copy of this.
Thanks,
Andy McElhannon
