Request for MORE Paper for our Fire!

(This posting is being cross-posted to Rec./Alt.Scouting)

Hi Scouters!

You would not believe this, but this is a request for MORE PAPER!!

As you all know, much of what I've used as basis for many of my postings
here have come from the boxes and file cabinets and binders full of older
programming and administration items which I've kept since "childhood"
(okay, most since 1960) and which others have been nice enough to give or
share with me over the years. For this, I thank them again for helping you
(I just find it, repeat what I find and add my own personal opinion, if I
don't agree with what the paper states) to do a better job with your program!!

However, I am in a bind in three critical areas: Program support,
information between 1987 and 1990, and local applications of national
programming. Therefore, I am asking for your help.

If you have old newsletters, camporee booklets, special program covers or
program content, stuff that other Scouters can benefit from or use, or just
ANYTHING that you want to get rid of, I would love to add it to my large
library--the online version as well as the physical version.

Please note that I DO NOT NEED BSA LITERATURE DURING THAT PERIOD....I HAVE A
LOT OF IT, AND IN SOME CASES, I HAVE DUPLICATIONS OF MANY THAT I HAVE IN
BOXES (which is the third part of this posting) THAT WHILE I DON'T WANT TO
GET RID OF, I WILL IF NOBODY CAN USE IT. So please don't send me "official
BSA stuff".

What specifically I'm looking for, are "empty spaces" like (the numbers are my
filing system...ask Jessica about it...it works somewhat like the Dewey Decimal
System somehow, but it works! *heheheehee*):

1-614, 2-614 and 3-614 Camporee Information, Paper Maps of Council Camps,
and basic camping program (things like Leaders' Guide for Summer Camp
Operations, listing of merit badges offered at camp, etc.)
2-620 Council Annual Reports (any Council, between 1975 and the present)
and development plans
1-650 Information and materials from overseas Scouting programs
1-659 Information and materials from the GSUSA
1-660 Information and general materials from the BSA (less manuals)
4-661 Sample Program Covers and samples of different types of recognition
and special programs
1-662 Sample Blank Program Covers (older the better, but any of them are good)
2-662 Sample Local Certificates supporting National events
1-680 Misc stuff by Region - Northern (Northeast) Region Councils
2-680 Misc stuff by Region - Southern (South East/South Central) Region
Councils
3-680 Misc stuff by Region - Central (East Central, North Central) Region
Councils
4-680 Misc stuff by Region - Western Region Councils
5-680 Overseas Councils and other misc stuff
1-690 Misc newsletters and "dead stuff" (this takes up almost an entire
file drawer!)

....and anything else you want to get rid of or share with everyone else.

What will I do with all of this? First, I'll spend a part of Christmas
break to go through a box, get rid of the duplications, and file it.
Second, I'll be converting much of the Camporee and Camp Program books to
something which can be accessed through the Leaders' Online project. Third,
I'll be using a lot of it to base speeches and training outlines on for the
spring and summer of next year.

If you have anything you want to share, send or just get rid of, please let
me know and we can make arrangements to send it my way. My personal intent
is to fill the third four-drawer filing cabinet up completely and to "flesh
out" the other notebooks which have been animic lately (due to my last move,
in which I've destroyed about five boxes worth of paper...we didn't have a
recycler there
anywhere around to take it all to, or I would have. So unfortunately, I've
contributed a lot to their landfill. *sad face*).

Now, the good part: I KNOW that some of you out there can use some really old
program and menu covers that I've collected over the years. I have several,
but only like 20 or 30 of each cover. I also have a package of Eagle Scout
napkins that are left over from my Eagle Court of Honor in 1975 (yeah, I
keep EVERYTHING!). I also have some older BSA publications that can be of
usage to someone collecting them, or just to someone to have. Write me
privately and I'll share what I am getting rid of.

I also have some old blank Troop position certificates and some other misc
paper items. Let me know privately if you are interested.

Finally, I have TWO, yes, TWO pair of size 32 by 30 *woolen* Scout pants, a
older small sized Khahi shirt, and a small sized Explorer shirt without
patches. I will entertain either trades for larger sized (that's what you
get when you get older...36 by 30) pants or large *old* shirts (the khaki or
green) or I can sell them (everything has been drycleaned and is in premo
shape) for best offer.
(I sound like Monty Hall! *heheehee*) I will post this part over at Patch-L.

The bottom line is, like every good library, I have to keep as current as I
can. While I've spent a small fortune on the BSA's literature, I need to
also stay in touch with the "local element" out there. Because of a series
of things over the past four years, I have been unable to get out there much
and "see examples of Scouting!", so the next best thing is to read and learn
about things elsewhere. I want to also share much of what I've collected
and learned by way of those World Wide Web pages that are being constructed
left and right with great frequency every other day, so if you can help out,
I would really appreciate it!

******
Remember: PLEASE send to me PRIVATELY and don't send me anything until I've
made arrangements with the Post Office to get and save it for me until I can
get home each evening. Otherwise, our two mailpersons will get hernias and
I'll NEVER get my mail on a regular scheldue after that!!!! *smiling*
******

(if you want to share this posting with with other forums, please do so, but
please note that this was taken from our (Scouts-L) youth programs
discussions list!! It helps us to bring more folks here to our fire!)

Thanks in advance for your help, and if I can ever be of service to you,
please use one of the ways below to reach me. I'm always interested in
helping as much as I physically can (sometimes it takes me a while, but I'll
do my best!!!)

(yes dear, I DO have the space for all of this! *smiling*)
