This seems to have become a thread so heres my public tuppence worth.

Quite right, the first troops were formed in 1907, almost immediatly
after Brownsea Island (two weeks August/September from memory).
As I said to Don, my troop is recognised as a founder troop and our
records only go back to October 1907. This is certainly a blunder by
the media, either the wrong film or they mistook the organisation.
