Gut Feelings are great until something goes horribly wrong.

Before taking such action, consider that

1) While the 2-deep policy is presented as protection for the boys, IT IS
ALSO PROTECTION FOR YOU!!!!! Are you willing to open yourself up to problems?

2) IMHO, I don't see this as falling in the gray zone. It appears from your
message that this is being done to support the scout in a scouting activity.
That looks to me like black and white. It is a scouting activity and you
must have 2-deep leadership.

<SOAPBOX ALERT> This is the one part of scouting (or working with any
organization) that I really hate. You just can't do something nice to help
someone out without analyzing it from every legal perspective. I personally
feel that what you are trying to do is great. But remember that it seems
there are people with very nice briefcases around every corner. <OFF THE
SOAPBOX>
