On their first campout you might want to keep the cooking simple. For a
breakfast try French Toast or scrambled eggs (can be done in foil) and warm
up some canned Corned Beef Hash (also in foil) or cook bacon or sausage.
O.J. or hot chocolate to drink.

Lunch can be sandwiches and fruit-add hot instant soup if the weather is cold.

For dinner make a foil dinner of two ground beef patties with chopped
vegetables (potato, carrot, etc) sandwiched between and sealed in foil. Lay
on the coals for 30 min and turn over for another 20 min. Or try the foil
pack with a thick ham slice or two, a pineapple slice with some juice and a
few slices of sweet or white potato. 20 min one side then 15 min on the
other. Add bread, condiments, and seasoning to taste.

These and other suggestions can be made to the boys, but you should let each
patrol plan its own menu with the provision that the menu be balanced. The
boys can make their choices based on personal likes and dislikes.

You might want to experiment with a dutch oven dessert for the boys after an
evening campfire. YiS
