Depending on where you're located, wolves and grizzly bear aren't likely
to be identified by scouts. Birds, insects, reptiles, and small mammals
(or their tracks) are more likely. In NH winters, I don't know what
would be out to identify. :-)
Wait until summer. Can your scouts identify black flies? :-)
