To the parents of Adam Vickerson, Jeff Clark, and Everett Morse.
Over the past week I have been reading about the passing of your sons and
the loss of three Eagles. What more can be said other than how much we
mourn for you and your families.
I have struggled trying to find a way to express what I feel. Several times
I have come to tears just thinking about who were lost. Young men just
starting on the road of life, young men who cared for others, young men who
were willing to give to others. These are the ones who were lost.
Adam Vickerson with is struggle with CF. He wanted the most of what life
could offer. He was dying, he knew it, but he gave and gave. The Eagle
torch shown brightly in his life.
Jeff Clark loved his family and Scouting. The entire country was shocked by
the death of these young people. Perhaps the Scouting community more than
others because one of our own had just reached the top of his Scouting
career just night before. The Eagle torch shown brightly in his life.
Everett Morse was a product of the projects. He wanted to do something for
those around him. He worked to provide food and clothing for the people in
his community. The drive to be of service to others was so strong that he
gave his all. The Eagle torch shown brightly in his life.
To all of you I offer these word from the 23 Psalm (NIV):
"The Lord is my Shepherd, I shall no be in want.
He makes me lie down in green pastures, He leads me beside quite waters,
He restores my soul. He guides me in the path of righteousness for His
name's sake.
Even though I walk through the valley of the shadow of death, I will fear no
evil, for You are with me; Your rod and Your staff, they comfort me.
You prepare a table before me in the presence of my enemies. You anoint my
head with oil; my cup overflows.
Surely goodness and love will follow me all the days of my life, and I will
dwell in the House of the Lord forever."
May the Lord give you His peace which is beyond all human understanding
during this time of grief. Our love and prayers are extended to each one of
you. God Bless you.
