Hi all,
I read April's post and the replies so far with a great deal of
interest. My two cents worth is as follows.
First, I thought that someone was innocent until proven guilty in our
system. Thus, I do not believe that--as far as the specific criminal
charges are concerned--the individual should be kicked out of scouting
until he is convicted. With all due respect to those with differing
views on this issue, kicking someone out of scouting based on charges
alone is not appropriate, in my view.
The other stuff, however, is grounds for the boot, IMHO. Skinny
dipping with a girl friend at a boy scout camp, etc., is not very
scoutlike, to say the least, and neither is his treatment of his
ex-wife. This guy has completely lost track of what scouting is all
about. He needs to go. If your DE doesn't boot him out, I'd go to
Council about it.
Just my thoughts on the matter.
