For 38 years, our troops By-Laws have changed very little. One area in
general that has been recently changed is who can vote on the
committee and what constitutes a quarum.
For example, our By-Laws have always stated the ALL Parents or
Guardians are listed as "members at large" on the committee and
therefore have a vote at any committee meeting. It was also generally
understood, not stated, that as long as there were at least three
members of the committee present, a vote can take place and a majority
is two.
This was recently changed to identify 7 Key positions on the committee
as being voting members and a quarum of 4 or more of those 7 had to be
present to have a vote.
I would like to come up with something in between, that maintains the
parents right to vote on the committee and establishes a minimal
number of members of the comittee present to have a meeting.
I would like to here how you handle this in your unit. Please e-mail
me direct to my address listed below. Attachments of your By-Laws are
more than welcome.
YIS and Thanks,
