Re: Adult Awards, Leader Knots

Larry,

One of the best places to see most of the knots currently available (with
the exception of some Sea Exploring knots) is Alan Houser's World Wide
Web site: http://www.emf.net/~troop24/scouting/patches.html
Alan has provided a hyper jump point for most of them to a short
description of the requirements.

You can also get the color images for these patches from Bill Nelson's
ftp site: ftp@ftp.hywaay.net directory: /hyper/Scouts

Depending on the work that you and/or other SMs are doing with Troops you
or they may also qualify for nomination for the Scoutmaster Award of
Merit. Likewise some districts will act on nominations for the Award of
Merit when the SM has had long service and has impact on the District
level, e.g. expanding Scouting to more boys over the years. Many
districts are sensitive to making sure that a number of these awards go
to the best unit leaders. If you are associated with labor the George
Meany Award may be applicable. If you are working on developing
inner-city units, the Whitney M. Young award may be applicable. And if
you have plenty of extra cash a possibility for recognizing financial
support is the James E. West Award.

Speaking only for myself in the Scouting Spirit, Michael F. Bowman
