Mike:

I've done three Philmont treks with contacts -- two with
old-style hard contacts and one with gas-permeable. No problems
whatsoever. I do, however, take along my glasses (just in case) it would
probably be prudent to also take along an extra pair of contacts, but I
don't have one, so I haven't.

P.S. empty solution containers make the perfect carriers for tabasco
sauce (required to spice up trail food). Just be sure to remove the label
or otherwise differentiate, or you could have an unholy surprise!
