Re: Merit Badges at Summer Camp

Bill Gremillion complains that earning merit badges at summer camp is too
easy. We had a similar problem a number of years ago when I was Counmcil
Advancement Chairperson (I won't say how long ago.) I discussed the
situation with the Council Executive. He reminded me that (in our Council)
all council-level counselors had to be approved by our committee, and that
included those at summer camp. So we made a "short-course" in MB
counseling part of their pre-camp training. This included the usual "no
more -- no less" information and a special caution not to cut corners (for
instance, because of limited time they were reducing the number of required
"sits" for EVS). Since that time we have had no complaints.
