I have to agree with Bruce and another poster in questioning the necessity of bo
ys wearing a watch. IMHO sometimes society places too much emphasis on schedules
and organization. I don't disagree that these are important in many facets of e
veryday life; I just don't think that all things must be scheduled down to the m
inute. I don't recall an instance of an archeologist uncovering a stopwatch or d
aytimer among the chards of pottery and arrowheads :-).
A few years ago, our council summer camp attempted to hold scouts to a schedule.
I had a very conscientious young man come to me next to tears because he got co
nfused as to where his MB session was to be held. Consequently was 10 minutes la
te for the session and was told he could not stay because he was not on time.
Overkill? I think so.
