Liquid Fuels at Camp

I'm sure someone who has the Health an Safety Guide will refer you to the
official BSA policy on liquid fuels, Marc. Until then, I believe I can
accurately
paraphrase the policy by saying that liquid fuels ARE PERMITTED at camps,
subject to certain safety rules. Among the rules:

1. All fuels are to be stored in a central, secured area. A couple years back
at Canyon Camp, they used some locked school lockers behind the old
trading post (quartermaster). Leaders were asked NOT to keep fuel in the
campsite.
2. ADULTS are to fill, light and closely supervise the area when liquid fuels
are
in use. By my recollection, this means Scouts can use the Coleman stove for
cooking my breakfast, but I have to be watching for safety.
3. All manufacturers instructions for filling, lighting, use should be followed.
4. And of course, no open flames in tents (this includes propane "heaters".)

As mentioned above, I believe this to be an accurate paraphrsing of the official
liquid fuels policy. (I've got to quit reading this at work!) You might want to
have
Rockford fax you a copy of the policy if you have detailed questions.
