Michael,
The problem is that the District Commissioner has been in charge
of the Roundtable for several months. He recruited me as Cub
Commissioner and a couple as Boy Scout Commissioner. Now he wants to
appoint an overall Roundtable Commissioner to do the opening and
closing. I have explained to him that the three of us and our staffs can
handle this and he shouldn't worry. I really believe he has a
friend--who has agreed to be on my staff (even after I explained she
could no longer earn the arrowhead award as staff) and he wants her to
have it anyway. He is one to try to encourage people to get awards
sooner than is the requirement, anyway.
He has one of his local unit commissioners having people sign in,
pass out beads, and who is wanting to package hand outs for units
instead of allowing this to be done at the end of the program after we
see who has not been there to get their things.
Simple, I guess he does not want to let go. Yet our DE's boss
told me we had a great Cub Roundtable last Thursday when we did it my way.
Maybe I am over enthuastic just coming back from training, but I
think I know where his job ends and mine begins. I also know he is there
to supervise and to advise if we mess us, but I don't think he
understands the difference in the rolls.
Our Roundtables have been going down. I feel we can build them
up again. I have alread enlisted 3 on my staff and hopefully 2 more so
that no one is too bogged down with the work?
