I certainly did'nt want to trivialize the tick problem, aside from Rocky
Mountain Spotted fever and Lyme disease, there are a number of diseases they
transmit. Plus getting infected bites, etc.

We go through a "tick reminder" every spring as well as on campouts during
warm weather, but I haven't seen more than one or two in 5 years of camping
here in north-central Ohio. Go to Pennsylvania, Kentucky, Tennessee, etc
and you can get covered. As mentioned above, latitude doesn't seem to be
all that's involved. Guess we're just lucky :-). (Now, if someone wants to
trade for some deer-flies....)
