Scouting under BSA is a leadership training organization and ONE of its
methods is the outdoor program. Anyone who does not believe that the
disintegration of the family unit is a major contributor to the demise
of our inner cities has not bothered to look or listen to the news or
any one of a multitude of public officials talking about the horror of
the current demographic shifts. I doubt seriously that family life merit
badge will make a huge dent in the problem but neither will totally ignoring
it when we are trying to build good citizens for the future.
