Re: Fund raising

Barry,
I don't have the information available at work here but I will bring it in
tomorrow. Most of the work is on your own but the local PTA in your School
District always have people contacting their schools via a Paper Trail or
Voice. Contact your local PTA President or Vice Principal's and for local
help for example: if you planning on going camping etc. Write on a Letterhead
to that Company and explain what you are looking far etc. and these companies
(many) will be glad to send you free suplplies or give it to you for their
price.
This is the MOST IMPORTANT STEP - if they do help in Small or BIG Ways - YOU
MUST SEND THEM A THANKYOU NOTE THE DAY AFTER THE EVENT THAT YOU TOLD THEM THE
EVENT WAS GOING TO TAKE PLACE TO THANK THEM. P.S. Have all the Cub Scouts/Boy
Scouts sign the letter and asked what you can do to him / Company out using
the Cub Scouts/ Boy Scouts Troop.
This will be a WIN/ WIN / WIN event. You received discounted Price or Free
merchandants etc for the Scout Troop and you will get the Cub Scouts/ Boy
Scouts more involve in their community which will help in two fold:
Recruitment and Self esteem for the Boys.

P.S. Barry, if you would like a example of the Letter which I used - of
course you can change this to fit your needs in your own area, let me know -
I will send a attachment to you in .txt or .doc ( Word 6.0 ) formats.

These are some TIPS that I used as a Cubmaster.
Also, participant in your District Fund Raising Programs - For example - in
Boston Minuteman Council - we sell Popcorn which each Pack/Troop received
back about 33%. Our Pack alone raised the first year $1800. approx. for our
Pack plus it helps our District to grow as well which again WIN/WIN/WIN for
the Boys.
Beside the Free Prizes the boy will receive our Pack offered other Prices as
well. Such a Gift Certificate to Toy R Us, Movie Passes etc for the First 3
or 4 Top Sellers with a Certificate Noted that.
