I tried to send this message to you at the above address, but it was returned by
my 'postmaster' after 48 hours. Trust you can access through Scout-L for your
kids instead.
-----------------------------------------------------------------------------
Welcome to all of you raptors on the e-mail.
My name is Bill Warde. I am an Assistant Scoutmaster for Troop 828 in
Stillwater Oklahoma, USA. I have two sons in the troop, The eldest,
Colin, recently completed his Eagle and is now an assistant
scoutmaster since he turned 18 in April. The other, Chris, is a Star
scout and is the Senior Patrol Leader. He is currently working at the
Scout Camp as a staff member as a Dining Hall Steward and turned 15 on
Sunday.
In my many other boy scout lives, I am also the District Commissioner
for the Pawnee Bill District, Will Rogers Council. From my
recollection as a youth, a US Scout Council is approximately
equivalent to a Scout County in UK. Will Rogers Council is located in
North Central Oklahoma and extens from the State line with Kansas down
Interstate Highway 35 to the Cimmaron River (about 90 miles) We then
take in a wedge shaped area bordered to the South by the Cimmaron or
by US Highwat 33 and to the North by the Arkansas river and ending in
the East at a town called Mannford which is a little to the West of
Tulsa. My district now includes everything South of US Highway 64
which is included in the above defined region.
I am 52 and grew up in UK where I became a Queen Scout in the 22nd
High Wycombe Troop. I gather the troop has folded - at least that
is what I was told when I was visiting UK a year ago. I came to the
US in 1965 after finishing a BSc at the University of London and am
now a professor of Statistics at Oklahoma State University. I have
been involved in scouts since I joined as an 8 year old Wolf Cub and
so claim 44 years of continued registration (30 in US and 14 in UK).
I hope you all complete the badge that Kevin has you working on, and
will continue to your Chief Scouts Award and Quuen Scout and then stay
in the Movement as Scout Leaders.
Best Wishes
Bill
