Pack communications

One of the biggest problems our pack faces, IMHO, is communication. We do not
have a great turnout at the pack committee meetings. Those den leaders that
do not attend sometimes don't receive information that is needed. Neither the
cubmaster or assistant cubmaster (my husband) have this as their strong point.
I, on the other hand, love to communicate :).
I started a pack newsletter which is handed out at each pack meeting, but that
doesn't solve the whole problem. I have been a den leader for a year (Wolf,
now Bear) and my den has the best participation in the pack and council events.
I very strongly believe that it is because I call each and every scout before
each event as a reminder. I also publish a den newsletter which has a calendar
of events as the first thing. If we could establish some communication in the
pack, all dens would have the great participation.
So, some questions:
1) How does your pack handle communications?
2) How do you handle poor turnout at the pack committee meetings?
3) Do you have a Communications Chairperson? I am thinking about taking on that
role but what are the responsibilities? Should I also be communicating to
the papers, our charter organization, schools, etc.?
Any help would be greatly appreciated.
YIS,
Robin Louvain
