My introduction

Karim Montcalm (Karim.Montcalm@DMR.CA)
Thu, 6 Jul 1995 09:05:47 -0400

Hi everybody,

It was 3-4 weeks I was subscribe to the Scout-L mailing list and I never
send my introduction. There it is:

First of all, I live at Montreal (Quebec, Canada) and I don't speak english
very well. If I do some mistakes, don't be to agressive with me.

I was in scouting since 1989 as an assistant leader for Cubs scouts. I
never be a Boy Scout before because I leave 9 years in Africa with my
parents. I was 25 years old (3 day past) and I complete my Woodbadge last
year (I receive it last march). My "scout name" (or "Totem") was Devoted Deer.

Between summer 1991 and summer 1993 (3 years), I do nothing for scouts
because I was at the University. I was now Analyst-Programmer and I work
for DMR, an international compagny since one year.

Last year (summer 1993), I start a new group at Hull (back to Ottawa).
There was a group there (4th St-Joseph at Hull) between years '40th and 1972
but it was close for 20 years. I restart it by ceating a Cubs Unit. At the
end of the year, we was 19 Cubs and 5 leaders (including me). But for my
work, I move to Montreal region.

Here, I'm looking for a group where they need help. We suggest me to restart
the Troop (122th Mary-Queen-of-the-Peace, Pierrefonds, West of Montreal)
because all leaders had left the unit. Hard job! Five (5) boys of the 17
stay in the troop. Only one (1) came from the Cubs unit and I find two (2)
new boys. It's mean I just have eight (8) boys this year. I doesn't know
the Troop Methodology. But like BP's said, I do my best an during all the
year, I work to recreate the troop rules, spirit, make a team with
everybody. Next year, we'll be 20 boys, excluding the one who will left to
the next level (He just have 15).

There is my fast introduction.

Yours in Scouting,

Be Prepared,
