introduction/happy 4th of July!

HAPPY BIRTHDAY AMERICA!
HAVE A SAFE AND ENJOYABLE 4TH OF JULY!
Been on Scouts-L for about two weeks now. Waiting for a slow day to post my
introduction. Haven't seen one yet! Thanx to Jon and everyone who's made it
a very interesting and informative 2 weeks. FYI, received 627 messages,
1905K's worth.

I'm an Assistant Scoutmaster for Troop 60, Riverbend District, Central
Wyoming Council. Been in the Troop for about a year now, following my 12
year old son, Josh, from Cubscout Pack 30. Served as Member of Committee
before ASM. Josh earned his joining rank at the end of May 1994 and his
First Class Rank at the end of January 1995. Josh served as Patrol Leader,
Troop Guide, and Webelos Den Chief. Just elected Assistant Senior Patrol
Leader! Last summer, Josh was named outstanding camper at Camp Medicine
Mountain, South Dakota. Josh and I are planning on attending Camp Buffalo
Bill near Cody, Wyoming, on July 16.

Also have a ten year old son, David, still in Cubscout Pack 30, in a Webelos
Den. He's finished his first year, but won't be 10-1/2 til September, so in
for three more months. David hasn't missed a Webelos Den Meeting or Pack
Meeting all year. My wife, Vickie, is his Webelos Den Leader! David hasn't
missed a troop meeting or troop outing that Josh and I have attended
eiher--so David has been doing double duty!! We're planning on Camp Buffalo
Bill with the Webelos on July 12.

Both boys started as Tiger Cubs, so I've been active as an adult Scouter for
seven years now. Been a Member of Committee and Chartered Organization
Representative (twice). Also, currently the Council Chairman for Jewish
Relationships, member of the National Jewish Committee on Scouting, and the
Western Region Jewish Committee on Scouting (thanx to Irwin Freiberger).

We also have two daughters, Cece, 15, and Sarah, 13. Both have been active
in Girl Scouts. They have gone to GS Camp Sacajawea every summer. Wife was
also a GS Troop Leader for a year. Girls are both in independent troops now.
Both are very active in Job's Daughters.

Way back (about thirty years ago or "ancient history" as my kids say!) was a
Cub Scout, but did not get the opportunity to "cross over."

Been an attorney for 17 years, CPA for 20 years, but have been running our
family-owned recycling and steel service center business that I've been
involved in since I was a kid.

Kids are all good students. Josh just received Presidential Academic Fitness
Award! All are active in track and field. 2 years ago, both boys went to
Nationals. Last year, all 4 qualified for Nationals, but we were unable to
go. All 4 kids plus myself are also long distance runners, 5K's-10'kers.
This past Memorial Day Weekend, the boys and I just competed in our 2nd (1st
for the girls) Bolder-Boulder 10K (6.2 miles) High Altitude Run. For 4
years, both boys have wrestled in USA Freestyle and Greco-Roman Wrestling.
This year, my 13 year old daughter also wrestled--only 1 of 2 females that
wrestled and placed at State and qualified for Western Regionals in Fresno.
(They have to wrestle the boys, as there is no separate female wrestling
program in Wyoming!)

My wife and I are truly blessed with four great kids, and fortunate to have
programs like Scouts for them to develop and mature in with other great kids
and adults.

Thanx for the opportunity to introduce ourselves. Sorry for the length, but
with 4 active kids----

Besides, I had to wake up in the middle of the night to do this so I could
"use" my computer and read my mail. The kids have "discovered" email and the
net, and now have email penpals around the world! At times, its a little
tough to get access!

Gotta go, as we'll be running the "Firecracker Mile" in only three hours!
