Laura Piccoli's figures are interesting:
$7.00 annual registration to council. Probably the individual national
registration that goes THROUGH council to national.
$10. for a year of Boys' Life. Sounds like someone is making a little
extra on this one. I believe annual subscription for BSA members is $7.80
which again goes in THROUGH the council office.
$43.50 additional fee to council. This is a new one for me. I suspect that
someone has determined the council's expenses per youth and encouraged a
Friends of Scouting DONATION of this amount. I do not believe a council can
assess a general "registration" fee although fees for events are appropriate.
I think this bears some investigation on Laura's part. I strongly encourage
donations above and beyond registration and Boys' Life but if they are being
required I think someone is out of line.
