I'm suprised, they furnished the tent's for the woodbadge that I went to. as
for the 3/4 to 1 mile hike in, that really isn't that far.
When I was growing up we went hiking as a troop every year. we had 75-100 mile
hikes that took a week. (we got 50 miler patches for them :-0 ). For tents we
took a large peice of visqueen (sp?) or plastic. It was spread out and tied
off and then everyone was able to sleep underneath. it was lightweight and
worked great!. As for the cot we didn't use them. take a peice of foam instead
if you are worried about the weight.
