Do unto others

Murphy Peter (MurphyP@RND3.INDY.TCE.COM)

Though several others have mentioned this, I feel it warrants
repeated emphasis:

Over the years I have been guilty of offending others with
e-mail when it was totally unintentional. I've learned the hard
way that when we take a normal conversation and remove the
facial expressions, voice inflections, and gestures, the left
over words almost always read with a harsher tone then they
sounded in my head. So when I read a post that "sounds" a
little intense, I try to be forgiving and just assume most
harshness is unintentional. After all, I've been in the same position.

So now I try to remember to reread my posts before sending
because I still find that my first drafts are usually harsher than
intended. But I didn't make this discovery by myself. It took
someone getting mad at me for what I thought was a perfectly
innocent e-mail. If you see someone with my problem you
may consider letting them know privately instead of publicly.
Or you may try ignoring the perceived tone of the message.

Just my humble opinion.
