Not true. Many LDS units may say this as a way to avoid getting involved
in fund raising ( a local decision, to do or not to do), but the LDS
leadership in Salt Lake City has made the churches policies on this clear.
Units are ENCOURAGED to participate in the councils POPCORN SALES. It is
an approved activity for ALL LDS units.

Last year when I was Popcorn chairman, I would accept, no our unit does not
want to participate, but I would not accept the statement "LDS units are
not allowed to fund raise."

I want to congraduate everyone. I went opps when the question came back
about why LDS troops were different. I was afraid things might get out of
hand, but everyone responded quite well to the question. By the way, I said
different as in not better or worse, but DIFFERENT. There are lots of
differnt ways to impliment the scouting program and stay true to the Oath
and Law (the real governing rules for scouting). The LDS differnt stands
out, because there are so many of them and they impliment the program the
way the do with remarkable consistency, regardless of location.
