I am not a LDS member but because of my WoodBadge Patrol and Troop being
predominately Mormon.. I have gotten to where I can speak the lingo
pretty well.
Here goes....Scouting is seen as a vehicle or medium to facilitate a
young mans ascension into the aaronic priesthood. The "young mans
presidency" is most often times the same person that is "called" to be
the Scoutmaster. Leadership for the boys is existent in the church,
seldom times existent in the Troop. (at least around here). What we are
talking here Claudia is not a difference of program but a different
"flavor" I have seen good and bad LDS Scout units just like I have seen
good and bad non-LDS units. I would visit them with your son and see for
yourself.
Hope this helped
