By way of introduction my name is Howard Trowbridge. My first
introduction to scouting was in the mid sixties. I joined cub pack
19 and graduated to troop 19 of the Central GA Council. I went on
to hold many troop leadership positions, achieve the rank of Eagle,
and worked on the Camp Ben Hawkins Camp staff. I reduced my
activity while in college and a subsequent stint in the Army.
My son is now a Weblos and I'm involved as the pack cubmaster for
a Pack in the Tennesse Valley Council (Huntsville, AL). I have a
relatively new pack; organized after the old pack encountered
financial differencies; similar to those I have read from this past
weekend's postings. Our old chartering organization conscripted the
funds generated by the boys to offset their own mounting debt. The
parents chose not to be a party of extortion and decided to start a
new with another chartering organization. Be aware, when you do
this, you start from scratch; no flags, banners, etc.
I am excited about being the Packmaster. I am planning a summer
round-up and want to get some solid fundraisers planned for this
fall. Stand-by and I'll keep you all infomed on how we do!
