Greetings from North Carolina! This is my first attempt at posting a
message, so please be gentle...
A recent posting mentioned the "web" page of nando.net as being a source
of info re: the Appalachian Trail. FYI-The Raleigh News and Observer
is our major paper, and since most of the trail is within a day's
drive of here, the N and O (get it- n and o.net?) is doing a whole
series on it. Two reporters are hiking the whole trail and writing a
series of articles. You "net heads" can probably get good stuff about
current conditions, supply points, shelters, etc.
Also, there's an ad in today's paper for a map of the AT. Here it is-
"The News & Observer is offering a full color 18" x 24" poster that
includes a detailed map of the trail, history on the founding fathers,
elevation and descriptions of significant locations along the trail."
"To order by mail, make check ($10 ea. plus $2.50 s/h) payable to
New Media and mail to: New Media/AT Poster, P.O. Box 191, Raleigh,
NC 27602." (Or call 919-836-2829)
Disclaimer - I have no monetary interest in this, just thought some of
you might be interested. Tell the N & O you found out about this over
the net - they'll go nuts.
